CHARACTER
Character Name: Aric Dominija
Character Age: 2000+
Canon: The Arcana Chronicles
Canon Point: Poison Princess
History: Aric's wiki, canon wiki
Personality: Aric's very stoic. He has lived a long time alone. In canon, he doesn't have the ability to touch people and that has created a very dark and lonely existence for him. At one point, Evie sees what his dreamscape/mind looks like and it is all dark, lonely and ruined civilizations, destruction and rubble. Aric's wary of the life that he's been condemned to and yet he doesn't forfeit the game by ever allowing himself to be killed. It would end his immortality if in the game he would lose since that is the only time period where he is mortal again.
While Aric can be quite viscous and vengeful, he is capable of forgiveness. It takes a long time for Evie to gain his trust but eventually he allows his walls to come down with her. He forgives her yet again for the past betrayals, even though, each time before she had betrayed him again and he remembers those very clearly. When he starts to let down his guard around her, the less stoic side of Aric begins to show.
Aric loves books, vodka and music. He has an extensive movie collection as well. He can be playful and generous with those he cares for. While the world is an apocalyptic hellscape, he manages to find dance supplies for Evie. He tries to provide her anything that she needs even before he has forgiven her. A part of this is a ploy to make her feel secure even though he has promised he will kill her. In truth, he's falling for her all over again even as he holds her captive in those initial days after he kidnapped her from her other companions. This all occurs after his canon point but goes to show his character more in depth.
A defining trait is perhaps, Aric's profound sadness and self-hatred. He is Death but he is tired and loathe to kill anymore. He hates the game but he feels compelled to keep playing despite the mental toll and fatigue. Even though he has allies, it does not change the loneliness that he feels as they are all eventually destined to die at his hand once again.
Inventory: His swords, armor, a few books that are in the pack on his horse, as well as his horse Thanatos (he should fit through an 8x4 hole I believe).
Abilities: Touch of Death (can kill with contact), Death Awareness (can sense dead things and approaching death), Superhuman speed, strength endurance, dexterity, senses and healing, Controlled telepathy. The controlled telepathy is inapplicable without Matthew "The Fool" also present. Also his touch of death was suppressed in Eudio, so I hope to keep that change.
Also, he is a gifted horseman and practically unmatched swordsman. He's an extremely talented strategist and has learned many languages over his 2,000 years on Earth.
Flaws: Aric is an extremely flawed character. He has had to kill many people over his time, even if most of the time that is under circumstances of kill or be killed. In the 50s he was an opium addict. In Poison Princess, he is spending his time mentally taunting the Empress and has plans to kidnap her and ultimately execute her after he feels she has suffered enough to pay for her betrayals in her past lives.

Previous Game and Time: Eudio, Nov 2016- approx July 2017
Previous Development: The most important changes that happened for Aric was having his death touch nullified. This was difficult for him for the first few months to believe that his touch wouldn't actually kill people anymore. Often enough, his gloves were still used to mask his insecurity in these interactions with fellow citizens of Eudio. He was slow to make friends and significant connections and for a long time the intimacy that he had was more mental and intellectual.
His first actual date ended up being with Kavinsky, who ended up being as charming as he was crude. Aric was a bit smitten by him and the fact that he saw quite a bit more to the man than his outward attitudes. Not too long later, there was a snowstorm and Aric had retrieved Kavinsky from the cold and they'd ended up in the stables. There, Aric had sex for the first time in his life which was a very new and intimate thing for him. After he hadn't been able to touch anyone for so many years and to still be struggling with that, having that deep sort of physical intimacy was very life changing. Aric fell pretty hard and pretty fast for Kavinsky -- who was less inclined to be monogamous and Aric had no intentions of pushing him on the matter. Their relationship and feelings for each other did continue to deepen and Aric had made it clear what he wanted was something long term and between the two of them -- but he would wait for what Kavinsky decided.
As of his time in Eudio, he never did receive a concrete answer from Kavinsky but being separated from him will be a painful thing that will likely have Aric closing himself off again to true intimacy of any nature.
Although, things were not perfect, Aric had grown to let go of his anger (for the most part) and his need for revenge on the Empress. His want for revenge hadn't only stemmed from the fact that she betrayed him numerous times but that he thought she was the only one that he could ever have. In Eudio, this had proven to be a falsehood. This is a major change to how he views the world and his motivations. In the books he was motivated constantly by his desire to make her pay. Now, he is motivated by finding some sort of happiness and contentment or at least some end to the cycle of death.
In a broader sense, being in Eudio taught him how to interact with people again. For many years he didn't really so much as have actual, personal and honest conversations with those that were not a part of the Arcana games. So he had many casual acquaintances that were not overly impactful except in acclimating him to normal human interaction again. There was Rosie who had become like a sister to him in their time in Eudio together. She is one of the few people who he had really shared in depth his past as he learned about hers. Along with Kavinsky, she is the only other person that he would have not only died for but lived for.
